Small Object Detection

The SeaDarQ is capable of detecting stationary and slow-moving objects as well as detecting ice.

The adaptive filtering used to filter out unwanted noise and a space-time model for sea clutter propagation measurements resulted in great capability to detect small objects. The information derived from prior images allows to locate the areas with different backscatter. The tests conducted with SeaDarQ revealed the software capability to detect small objects, such as pieces of wood, plastic barrels, metal barrels, foam makers, buoys, small boats and small floating objects (fridge).

The small object detection application is still under development, as it was not yet been tested against different sea states and different weather parameters.
