SeaDarQ monitors currents around 20 mln m2 of sand
On 20 of September, SeaDarQ organized a test together with Dutch Ministry of Transport and Water Management. Test was located on the coastline close to the small village of Kijkduin.
The aim was to provide an accurate hydrographic map of currents, depth and waves around the area of Sand Engine project, where 20 mln of sand was deployed in order to protect the coastline dunes from penetrating waves. Long term observation project including building observation tower for radar is planned as the conducted trial was successful.
SeaDarQ has revealed the influence of deposited sand on the currents, which deviate from original pattern along the Sand Engine site. More tests in that area are scheduled for incoming months. Further information on Sand Engine Project can be found on: http://www.dezandmotor.nl/en-GB/.
