Opening for PhD Candidate - Wave/Ice Radar

Nortek, together with the University of Oslo, has an opening for a PhD candidate in the area of fluid mechanics with an emphasis on remote sensing of waves. The Research Council of Norway is funding this three year project titled "Coherent radar for environmental monitoring of ice, waves, and currents for oil and gas operations in the Arctic".

The candidate will work with the interpretation of waves, currents and ice from coherent radar images, in combination with wave modeling. The candidate's effort will focus in particular on problems relating to wave kinematics, data analysis, and statistical description of waves. Some field work should be expected.
